Ductless mini-split repair across New Orleans
Mini-splits are simple to live with until the head starts dripping, the display flashes a code, or a room that was cool gets warm. We repair all the major ductless brands.

The most common mini-split repairs in New Orleans are a clogged condensate line causing the wall unit to leak, dirty filters and coils reducing cooling, refrigerant leaks at flare fittings, and error codes from sensors or communication faults. Most are diagnosed on the first visit, and many are fixed the same day.
Signs your mini-split needs repair
- Water dripping from the indoor head
- Blinking lights or an error code on the display
- Room not cooling as it used to
- Musty smell when the unit starts
- Outdoor unit not running while the head blows air
- Ice on the lines at the outdoor unit
- Unit turning off by itself

What goes wrong with mini-splits here
Updated September 2026
A mini-split head removes a lot of moisture from humid air, and all of it has to drain away through a small line. That drain, the filters and the coil inside the head need regular cleaning in this climate, and when they are neglected the head leaks or stops cooling well.
The rest of the repairs are electrical and refrigerant: sensors, boards and the flare fittings that connect the lines, which are a common source of slow leaks when they were not tightened correctly at install.

Mini-Split Leaking Water
Water dripping from the indoor head is almost always a drainage problem: a clogged condensate line, a line that has lost its slope, a failed condensate pump on heads mounted where gravity drainage is not possible, or a dirty coil and filter causing ice that melts and overflows. We clear and reroute the drain, test or replace the pump, clean the coil and filters, and confirm water is draining away before we leave. A towel under the head in the meantime saves the wall and floor.
Error Codes
Mini-splits report faults as flashing lights or codes on the display, and the meaning varies by brand. Common causes are a failed temperature sensor, a communication fault between the indoor and outdoor units, a refrigerant problem or an overheating outdoor unit. We read the code against the manufacturer's documentation, then test the actual component rather than replacing parts based on the code alone, since several faults can produce the same code. We note the code history too, since a recurring code points to a different fix than a one-off.
Wall Unit Not Cooling
A head that runs but does not cool usually has dirty filters, a fouled coil or blower wheel, low refrigerant from a leak, or an outdoor unit that is not running. We check each in order. Mini-split filters in particular clog quickly here and are often forgotten because they are hidden behind the front panel; cleaning them is sometimes the entire fix. If the charge is low, we find and repair the leak, usually at a flare fitting. We also check the outdoor unit's coil, which clogs with debris in yards close to the house.

| Check the remote batteries and mode | Yes | |
| Clear debris around the outdoor unit | Yes, power off | |
| Clear the condensate line | No | Yes |
| Refrigerant or electrical work | No | Yes |
Mini-splits on historic houses
In the historic districts, the preservation commission reviews visible exterior mini-split equipment and conduit when it is installed, and some older systems in neighborhoods like Bywater were put in with long outdoor line runs to satisfy that review. Those long runs are more prone to insulation damage and leaks. Repairing existing equipment in place does not trigger new review, so we fix what is there without moving it.
Brands we service and install
We repair and install Trane, Carrier, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, Ruud and the other major lines, plus Mitsubishi Electric ductless.
What affects the cost of a mini-split repair

The fault
Drain clearing costs far less than a board or compressor.
Refrigerant
Leak repair and recharge add time and materials.
Brand parts
Some brands' boards and sensors cost more or need ordering.
Number of heads
Multi-zone systems take longer to diagnose.
Access
High wall heads and outdoor units on brackets.
Timing
After-hours calls carry a premium at most shops.
